LIC SUMMIT Brings Developers, Investors Together At MMI

On Tuesday June 19, hundreds of developers, investors and building and construction leaders joined together to learn about the master plan to build and develop Long Island City.
The President of the MTA said, “We will transform the subways and busses into meaning transportation. We will push on to put elevators in ASTORIA and LIC.

Council member Jimmy Van Bramer, “The fair fare system is huge.” On museums culture and libraries. “The council has allocated more than $300 million in these areas.” He complimented Lorraine Grillo on her work with the mayor to get $230 million for new schools.”
These school and library improvement “mire livable and more sustainable.”

The keynote speaker was Cornell University President Martha Polkack.

The day was filled with workshops and plenary session. Topic for the workshops included, Arts and Corporate Responsibilities, Public Services: Catching Up and Getting Ahead, Innovation: Linking LIC Through Tech Community and Building our Mixed-Use Future: Movers and Shakers

Andy Buford said,” bring the transit infrastructure in when planning for a growing metropolis.

Councilman Jimmy Van Bramer admitted, “mistakes were made in the development boom that was coming,” with regard to LIC. “ We are trying to have a comprehensive approach and addressing the needs now.”
