Five Story Office Building To Replace Shops On 71st Road

By Liz Goff
A row of shops along 71st Road in Forest Hills are facing a wrecking ball to make way for development of a five-story, mixed use building.

The parcels, owned by the Forest Hills Property Group, located between 107-21 and 107-25 71st Road, will be replaced with a five-story building featuring ground floor retail space and four floors of office space, according to plans filed with the city Department of Buildings.

Current tenants including Anthony Kids, Austin Fancy Cuts and City Printers will be relocating before the end of the year, a spokesperson for Forest Hills Property Group said.

Convenience store Kwik Stop closed its doors recently in anticipation of the new development.

The parcel also includes properties at 71-23 and 71-25 Austin Street, near 71st Road. The Tudor-style buildings are not included in plans for the new development.
