Man Slashed, Beaten On Astoria Subway

Police are searching for a man who assaulted and slashed an Astoria man during a dispute on a Manhattan-bound N strain.

Police said the victim got into an argument with the suspect while the two men were boarding the train at the Astoria-Ditmars Boulevard station.

The victim told investigators he argued with the suspect when the man tried to block him from boarding the train on the night of January 4.

The dispute turned physical as the train pulled out of the station, according to the victim.

The suspect suddenly punched the man in the head and face, then pulled a sharp object and slashed him across the forehead.

The suspect fled the scene as the victim called police for help.

The victim was taken to Mount Sinai Queens, where he was listed in stable condition.

The NYPD is searching for the man captured on surveillance cameras. He is described as being in his mid to late 20s, about 5 feet, 7 inches tall and weighing about 210 pounds. He was last seen wearing a green jacket, T-shirt and a military style book bag.
