Record-Breaking Blood Donation At St. Anastasia

The St. Anastasia Knights of Columbus Council 5911 ran a blood drive on Sunday, November 12 in Douglaston. With the help of Boy Scout Troop 153 and permission from Msgr. Sherman, who allowed them to use Father Smith Hall at St. Anastasia Parish, they had a very successful blood drive and had collected by the technicians of the New York Blood Center, 73 blood donations, which is a record for St. Anastasia Parish. Chair of the event, Grand Knight Frederick R. Bedell Jr. said, “I would also like to thank the members of St. Anastasia and those in the surrounding communities that help to make this a success by donating the gift of life.” (L. to r.): co-Chair of the event Giuseppe Petruso, Tanya Gliponeo donating blood, and Bedell.
