Cops Hunt Cricket Bash Bandits

By Liz Goff
Police are searching for two suspects who beat a 55-year-old Woodside man with a cricket bat during a brazen midday robbery on November 10.

Cops said the victim was sitting in his car on 37th Avenue near 61st Street in Woodside at about 2:30 p.m. on November 10 when the suspects approached and pulled him out of the vehicle.

One of the suspects held the victim while the other smacked him in the head with the cricket bat and stole $100 from him, police said. The two suspects then fled on foot in an unknown direction.

The victim suffered a minor injury and refused treatment at the scene, a fire spokesperson said. The victim told investigators he knows one of his attackers, a police source said.

Police are seeking help from the public to help locate the two suspects and are urging anyone with information to call the CrimeStoppers HOTLINE at 1-800-577-TIPS or click on www.nypdcrimestoppers.com.
