An 80-year-old woman was killed and two others were severely injured in Astoria after a van lost control and went in reverse down 32nd Street, crossed the intersection at Broadway, and backed up into a food cart.

Police from the 114th responded to a call at around 2:30 p.m. to 32-01 32nd St., where the popular food cart was pinned to the wall of Capitol One Bank.

Two people, an 80-year-old woman and the food cart operator, a 71-year-old man, were rushed to a hospital in critical condition. A third person was taken to another hospital with minor injuries.

The 80-year-old woman, her identity unknown, was pronounced dead at the hospital, police said.

The woman was literally dragged and pinned against the wall of the bank and wedged between the food cart and van. The reason for the vehicle losing control is still under investigation.
