Family and esteemed colleagues celebrated newly elected Judge Peter Vallone Jr.’s victory, including state Senator Michael Gianaris, Assemblywoman Aravella Simotas, Councilman Costa Constantinides, as well as Vallone’s father, former City Council Speaker Peter Vallone Sr., mother Tena Vallone, and brother, Councilman Paul Vallone. On Tuesday, November 3, Assemblywoman Aravella Simotas, state Senator Michael Gianaris and Councilman Costa Constantinides gathered with members of the Tamiment Regular Democratic Club for an election night celebration in honor of Peter Vallone Jr., the newly elected future judge of the 3rd Queens Municipal Civil Court District. Judge Peter Vallone Jr. was joined by his father, former City Council Speaker Peter Vallone Sr., and his brothers Councilman Paul Vallone and New Jersey attorney Perry Vallone.

Judge Peter Vallone Jr.’s elevation to the bench is the latest chapter in the history of one of Queens’ most accomplished political families. Judge Peter Vallone Jr. will follow in the steps of his grandfather, who served as one of the first Italian- American Civil Court judges in New York City from 1955 to his death in 1967. Continuing his father’s legacy of public service, Peter Vallone Sr. represented Astoria in the City Council from 1974 to 2001 and served as the first Speaker of the Council from 1986 to 2001. Judge Peter Vallone Jr. represented Astoria in the City Council from 2002 through 2013 and served as Chair of the Public Safety Committee. Judge Vallone’s brother, Councilman Paul Vallone was elected to represent Eastern Queens in the City Council in 2013.

Assemblywoman Simotas, who worked for Peter Vallone Sr. during his tenure as Speaker of the City Council and was Peter Vallone Jr.’s campaign manager for his successful 2001 City Council race, spoke highly of the newly elected Judge Vallone.

“Peter is firmly guided by a moral compass that always points due north,” said Simotas. “For as long as I have known him, Peter has consistently proven himself to be a man who speaks his mind and who is not afraid to make tough decisions.”

“Our community continues to benefit from the great successes and accomplishments of the Vallone family and I am thrilled to congratulate my friend, Peter Vallone Jr., on one more,” said Senator Gianaris. “I know Peter will do us proud as a judge and will continue to serve Queens well. Congratulations to him and the entire Vallone family.”

Councilman Constantinides said, “I congratulate Peter Vallone Jr. on his election to judgeship. He and his family served our neighborhood with distinction for many years and he will now have the opportunity to continue that legacy on the judicial bench.”

“I have no doubt that Judge Peter Vallone Jr. will uphold the legacy of public service that the residents of Queens have come to expect from the Vallone family,” said Carol Scarano, District Leader and co-executive leader of the Tamiment Regular Democratic Club.

“I am so proud of my brother as he enters the Judiciary after his election yesterday,” said Councilman Paul Vallone. “I can’t think of a more qualified or better prepared person to wear the robes of a judge and carry on the tradition first started by our grandfather, Charles J. Vallone.”

“My father, the late Judge Charles Vallone, for whom the Queens Civil Courthouse was named, would be the happiest of all to see his first-born grandson following in his footsteps,” said former Speaker Peter Vallone Sr. “I am sure Peter Jr. will be as kind, impartial, and as great a judge as my father was.”

“I’m honored to be able to continue to serve the people of Queens and follow in the footsteps of my grandfather as a Judge. I have always fought for justice, and now I can ensure that it’s done,” said Judge Peter Vallone Jr.
