Trattoria Lucia

Trattoria Lucia is proud to celebrate 10 successful years in Bellerose, and as a “grazie” to its loyal clientele and newcomers alike, they are graciously offering a 10% discount on meals here. Even without a discount, a meal at Trattoria Lucia turns any night into a memorable one. Conveniently located on Jericho Turnpike, just near the Cross Island Parkway, Trattoria Lucia offers fine Italian cuisine prepared from the heart.

Owners Karen and Ivan Calle and Joseph Villanti have created a beautiful, spacious, classic and classy Italian restaurant for all of life’s occasion, as they specialize in on- and off-premises catering. A meal here in their warm, cozy dining room is the perfect setting for a romantic dinner with your sweetheart, a family gathering, a group of friends, or a business luncheon or dinner. With private parties on premises up to 125 people, it’s easy to see why Trattoria Lucia is the area’s go-to spot for engagements, birthdays, showers, and anniversary parties.

I can’t wait to get to the food, which is all prepared by the expert chefs from the freshest, finest ingredients, and served steaming hot on sparkling, white platters. We settled into our tables covered in Chianticolored linens that matched the fine wine in our glasses. Warm, crusty bread and spiced olive oil was swiftly placed on our table while Karen showered us with hospitality, as she does with all her loyal customers. She recommended some of the house special Antipasti that included fresh mussels steamed in chardonnay garlic wine sauce with chorizo sausage, fennel and grape tomatoes, which makes good use of that bread for soaking up all the savory juices. Clams or Mussels Luciano or Possillipo are also worth sharing, as are the Crispy Baked Clams. Buffalo Fried Calamari adds a hot and tangy twist to the Italian classic, while the Creamy Burrata Mozzarella dish was flanked with fresh tomato and grilled asparagus with balsamic vinegar glaze.

Trattoria Lucia offers many vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options, so just ask and your wish is granted. There is truly something for everyone here, with fabulous pasta dishes, meat, chicken, fish and seafood. We started with some of their tempting pasta dishes and loved them all. Vegan spinach Ravioli are hand made and filled with asparagus, zucchini, and mushroom in a fragrant tomato sauce with garlic and oil ($18.95). Striped Lobster Ravioli get their name from squid ink and are clever “striped” pillows filled with lobster and topped with baby shrimp, mushrooms and shallots in a heavenly cognac cream sauce ($19.95). Trattoria Lucia’s classic “Fioretti” tossed in a creamy pink sauce with peas, prosciutto and mushrooms. Another popular pasta is the Whole Wheat Penne Ivano, made with grilled chicken, Portobello mushroom, arugula, and fresh tomato. Sure, you’ll find your Classic Linguine with Clam Sauce, Fettuccine Alfredo, Rigatoni Bolognese, and Baked Ziti too, so you can always have your old favorites.

No one does fish like Trattoria Lucia, with their signature dish, Seafood Lucia that includes a bounty of Alaskan King Crab Legs, Shrimp, Clams, Mussels, Scungilli, and Calamari, in a fresh marinara sauce served over a mound of linguine…buonissimmo! Our Swordfish Lucia was nicely cooked and topped with artichoke hearts, asparagus, tomato and olives in white wine sauce. Tilapia Francese is a light and simple dish, as is the Salmon Riviera with garlic, rosemary and white wine.

There are plenty of meat entrees at Trattoria Lucia such as Grilled Baby Lamb Chops with Broccoli Rabe, a 16-ounce T-Bone Steak with mushrooms and onions, and Pork Chops with vinegar peppers. Our special Pork Chop topped with smoked mozzarella and spinach was just spectacular. Veal and Chicken dishes are gently sautéed and are fork-tender. All meat and fish entrees are accompanied by your choice of salad, pasta, or potato croquette. There’s no extra charge for the love that goes into each and every dish.

Speaking of love, Trattoria Lucia’s Fundraising Spectacular, Day of Giving is Sunday October 18th, from 12-4pm. They’re offering a full brunch buffet, drinks, D.J., Chinese auction, and 50/50 raffle with all proceeds going to charity. Call for more details and reserve your space today for this fun and worthwhile event. Another fun event at Trattoria Lucia is their weekly “Paintnite” held on Thursday and Friday nights. Enjoy some wine while your instructor guides you through a painting demonstration and lesson. You can see the beautiful results on the walls in the private dining rooms, and boy, was I impressed. Oldies’ Nite features the “Tercels” on Thursday, October 22nd at 7:30pm so mark your calendar for all these very special events, and there is always excellent food and wine to accompany you.

Desserts at Trattoria Lucia are made with love by Karen’s sister, Maureen and are simply irresistible. The Peanut Butter Pie with Oreo crust is addictive, and you’ll fall in love with the lighter than air Limoncello Cake with layers of light, fluffy Mascarpone, topped with shaved white chocolate. Flourless Chocolate Cake and Red Velvet Cake also go well with a steaming cup of their robust Coffee or Espresso. Remember Trattoria Lucia for your next family or business event, whether you choose to hold in their beautiful, spacious dining room, or at your own venue, leave the cooking to the experts and enjoy your special day.

With great food, wine, and friendly service, Trattoria Lucia is your go-to spot in Eastern Queens, or try their other restaurant, Bella Lenas on Fresh Pond Road in Ridgewood for the same high quality and delicious dishes.
