State Senator Toby Ann Stavisky (D-Flushing) met with interns from Korean-American Civic Empowerment (KACE) to discuss the Korean American community, government and youth involvement.

As part of their development program, the KACE interns have been meeting with local lawmakers to learn about government and how young people can get involved.
“I learned that our local elected officials are very concerned about the Korean American community in their districts. Also, through the interview, I learned that participation in our local community is absolutely crucial,” said Isabel Sung, a KACE intern.

“As our future leaders, it’s so important for young people to start learning and getting involved in their communities from a young age. I was impressed by the questions that the interns asked me  about my time serving in government, how young people can get involved and how we can all work together for the betterment of the Korean American community. I look forward to voting for one of these bright young adults one day, hopefully after I leave office!” said Stavisky.
