Residents Appreciate New Courts At Flushing Meadows

Local residents are shown enjoying the new volleyball courts that were recently opened on the eastern side of Flushing Meadows-Corona Park. The five courts were formally opened on Tuesday, June 25, during a ceremony attended by Queens Borough President Helen Marshall (inset, second from l.) along with Flushing Meadows-Corona Park Administrator Janice Melnick (l.), Flushing Meadows-Corona Park Conservancy President Jean Silva (second from r.) and Queens Parks Commissioner Dorothy Lewandowski. The construction of the five concrete courts was paid for with a $450,000 allocation from Marshall.
