Atlanta’s Garrett Anderson touches home plate after hitting the first of three home runs against Mets starter and losing pitcher Pat Minch. Anderson’s blast came in the first inning.

The Atlanta Braves came in to CityField on Monday September 21 trailing the Division leading Phillies by 8.5 games but looked by like the division leaders belting the Mets for three home runs including two in the very first inning to beat the Mets 11-3
The only glimmer of joy for the Mets fans came in the forth inning when Daniel Murphy slammed a long home run into the Mets bullpen in right centerfield and an inning later when pinch hitter Anderson Hernandez blasted a triple in the gap in right center. The fans wanted him to attempt an inside the park home run, but he slid into third satisfied with an extra base hit. He scored on a ground out hit by Jose Pagan. Pinch hitter Fernando Tatis and David Wright ended the threat by each striking out.
Mets starter Pat Minch(1-3,4.21) did not get out of the second inning. He was lit up for 8 runs on 8 hits including three Atlanta home runs. Minch’s replacement, Lance Broadway was anything but from the Great White Way. Broadway lasted only 1 2/3 innings giving up 3 runs on 3 hits.
The only Mets highlights included a Daniel Murphy Home Run in the forth and fifth inning lead off  triple by utility player Anderson  Hernandez who came around to score on a ground out.

New York City Deputy Mayor for Operations and lifelong Mets fan Ed Skyler took the mound at 7:05PM adn three out the ceremonial first pitch. The ways the Mets starter was lit up tonight thye maight have been able ot use Skyler who tossed a strike to Mets catcher Jpsh Thole

Before the game Mets vice president David Newman was joined by Flushing BID Executive Director, Mabel Law, Councilman John Liu and leaders from the Korean American Association of Queens to cut the ribbon to officially open the new Korean and Japanese foot court at the Worlds Fair Food Market located on the field level in right field.
